Lodge Manager

Being a lodge manager is perhaps the best job in the world for people who like to fish. I manage a salmon and halibut fishing lodge in northern British Columbia, just 20 miles south of Alaska. I am surrounded by untouched, remote wilderness and Queen Charlotte Islands' wildlife. The most important function of my job is to make sure that the lodge guests are happy. I spend a lot of time interacting with the guests. I need to make sure that they're happy with their rooms, the food, the boats, their guide and everything else about the lodge. I supervise the staff in all the departments who can have an impact on the guests happiness. I get to go out fishing whenever I want, and I will guide my 'important' guests when I can. The most boring thing about my job is the paperwork, keeping track of store sales and employee payroll and food orders etc. But the location, the scenery and the guests make it all worthwhile.
