"Todays catch of kokanee at lake Billy Chinook in oregon using a gibbs minnow #12 Pink Pearl and a kernel of corn. Cast it out and retrieve it real slow and give a light twitch every few cranks."
I have used your Gibbs croc spoon Brass fire stripe lure for about 3 years now and I have caught 3, 2o LB northern pike, which are not a common size to catch in this part of the province. I have had awesome success and wanted to share a picture with you. the last one I caught on June 7, 2002. it was 39 inches and about 20 lbs. Thank- You."
"Last Friday our spring salmon fishing got off on the right foot. My boat hooked 9 fish all on Gibbs Minnows!! The fish weighted 14 to 18lbs and had the other boats jealous. Green and Blue head with the silver body did the trick. The Feather River in N. California was the hot spot."
"13.5lb. 26.5 in. Musky caught by myself in Lake Scugog on the Gibbs Ruby Eye # 3 1/2 ."
"My Uncle Russ and my daughter Kim. Again both Russ's 18 lb Northern and Kim's 14 lb Northern were nailed on the Gibbs Ruby Eye #3 1/2."
"The three Northerns Were caught by my next door neighbor and myself, all on Gibbs Ruby eye # 3 Silver. Jason is only 6 years old and won't fish with any other lure."
"My daughter Kim with her 7 l/2lb Northern. This prize photo has been autographed by none other than Angelo Viola from "The Fishin' Canada Show" and hockey great, Bobby Orr. Kim managed this one all the way in to the boat by herself using a Gibbs Ruby Eye Wiggler # 3 1/2."
"The Gibbs Gator has really proved itself on the West Coast of the Charlottes. So far, the Gator alone has yielded a guided 6 over 30 lbs, and one 43lb, as well as numerous other smaller fish in the 20's!"
"I was panic stricken - I had none of my favorite spoons, and I had to use the Gibbs Gypsy, and I pulled in a pair of beauties!"
"Pep Pereira (40 lbs spring) caught it with Koho lure on the Skeena river. I've had great luck fishing springs with your lures. I had a day when I caught 16 springs in one day using, Kit-a-mat's and Koho's
......thanks
PS. my favorite lure is the KNNB works great."
"Thanks John for a great day on the water, decided to take your advice & give the Gibbs Gator spoons a try, had a double header with Show Girl & Sun & Sea, Gibbs Lures now have a place in my tackle box, can't wait to try the new colors. See you on the water."
"We headed up early morning to fish for Cutthroat on Harrison Lake, the wind was a bit so we decided to fish the Harrison River instead. We spotted a bunch of Cutthroat trout splashing and thrashing, feeding heavily on salmon fry. We quietly moved the boat into position for the kill. We dropped anchor and began to choose our best fry imitations, of course we were fly fishing as it's usually the most productive when trying to match the hatch. Our fly patterns were perfect size and color, our presentation flawless. After 1 1/2 hours of casting and stripping we still hadn't landed a fish, couple close calls but no fish landed.
My wrist was a little tired, my ego battered. I looked down at my rod holder only to see one of my favorite lures glistening in the sun, Gibbs 3/8 silver plated croc tied to the end of my new 7' Quantum Lite Pro series rod with a Quantum Snapshot spinning reel. As I reached for the rod I could see the disappointed look on my partners face, 2 casts, fish on but not landed, a couple more casts, 1 more on, but again short strikes no fish landed. Next cast was into deeper water near the shore, as soon as I began my retrieve, fish on and what a fish. After a great battle, I managed to land one of the largest Dolly Varden I have ever caught on the Harrison System 6-8 lb's."
"The world's largest halibut are taken in Alaska waters. I have been an Alaska guide for over 30 years. One of the very most effective methods of taking 'large' halibut is by using Herring Dodgers anywhere from 7 to 14 inches 24 inches ahead of the bait. In the Homer area of Katchemak Bay, south of Anchorage at the extreme end of the Kenai Peninsula, it is quite common to catch halibut over 100 pounds. A 200 pounder is not that uncommon. Pictured here is a 328 pound Pacific Halibut I caught in Kachemak Bay State Critical Habitat Area, six miles north of point Naskowhak just west of Seldovia Bay. This huge halibut, like so many huge ones before it, fell prey to a 12" trusty ol' Chrome Gibbs "Herring Dodger" followed by a whole salmon head which is commonly used for bait. The Herring Dodger will give action to the salmon head and herring bait like nothing else I am aware of while fishing these barn-door monsters of the sea!"
"I have been aboard the Gibbs Pro Staff Team for a few years now and I have had some great days with Gibbs products but one day last August top it off !!! I had three charters booked that day (which meant either long hours of potential trolling boredom or sore arms and bruised stomachs from battling Chinooks). To give you a bit of background information: For days, salmon had been staging a few miles offshore, awaiting the perfect conditions to begin their spawning run up the Nottawasaga River. By sunrise, I was three miles offshore at one of my favourites "Waypoints" and was laying my usual spread for Gator spoons/Highliner combo. I lowered the first spoon, a #6 Gator Sun & Sea, down to 60' on the downrigger, I moved away to rig my second downrigger when a customer screamed "Fish On".
This was to be the beginning of a extremely busy day !!! Within 30 minutes we had four Chinooks onboard, all between 17 and 20 lbs. By the end of the third charter that day the rods had gone off some 20 times, I had set the hook on 17 fish and we had boated 13 Chinook salmon. The smallest was 14 lbs. and the largest 21 lbs., 11 of those fish had fallen for the Gators Sun & Sea. No need to tell you that I have grown very fawn of this little wonder. Now when in doubt, I can't help myself but to try a Gator Sun & Sea.
By the way, I must give some credit to Capt John Bond of Rod Dipper Charters for putting me onto the Sun & Sea ... he had some success stories of his own with that spoon!!! Good luck to all of you that dare to try it."
"I have been using the Gibbs 3" and 3 1/2" Ruby Eye -- Silver and gold for over 40 years on Lake Simcoe. The best and most consistent lure in my box."
"A metallic perch hammered Gibbs CROC spoon produced in a "big" way for me again in a clutch fishing situation. This solid 45 inch trophy class Kawartha strain muskie was caught (and subsequently released) under extreme cold front conditions in the closing weeks of the season, when other conventional muskie trolling baits just couldn't get the job done!"
"Kevin Riley of Quaker Hill, CT landed this Spanish mackerel on a party boat off the northern New Jersey coast during a bluefish jigging trip. During their jigging, a school of Spanish mackerel passed near the party boat. The skittish Spanich mackerel turned their noses up to all lures until Kevin tied a 2-ounce, blue/silver Minnow on to his line. This got an almost instant hit and hook-up, with other anglers wondering what kind of lure Kevin was using."
"Allen Riley of South Plainfield, NJ landed this 32-inch, 18 pound striped bass in the late-season, early morning Sandy Hook, NJ surf on a Minnow tied directly to his line. A school of large bass was feeding off the beach, out of casting distance of most other surfcasters. The Minnow, tied directly to Riley's line, enabled him to reach the feeding fish and hook the fish shown."
"Frank Huza of Aberdeen, NJ used a chrome Gibbs Minnow to land this Spanish mackerel in the Sandy Hook, NJ surf. That day the surf seemed dead as anglers went through their surf bags seeking THE lure that would appeal to any predators cruising through the calm Atlantic surf. When Frank switched to the Minnow, he got an explosive strike on his second cast (landing the fish shown in the photo). When other anglers switched over to the Minnow, they were rewarded with strikes as well. Surfcasters whose bags did not include any Minnows left the beach very unhappy -- but soon stocked their surf bags with this versatile lure."
"Outdoor writer Allen Riley of South Plainfield, NJ has turned New Jersey surfcasters on to the Gibbs Minnow. Shown here is a 7-pound false albacore ("little tunny") that Riley landed on a 1 1/2 ounce blue/silver Minnow in the Sea Bright, NJ surf. While false albacore are one of the most exciting fish to catch in the surf -- because of their incredible strength and fantastic run-offs when hooked -- their excellent eyesight makes them very wary of artificial lures, thus extremely difficult to trick into striking. This Gibbs lure outcasts just about any other lure, and its action and finish when retrieved create a convincing illusion that game fish find irresistible. The Minnow, when tied directly to an angler's line, has become New Jersey's most respected lure for stalking southern speedsters like the little tunny."

"Tips 'N Tricks taught me a few things. ... Your Gibbs minnows worked excellent this season here in Sacramento for the salmon run. I personally caught 4 fish over forty pounds and 10 over 30 pounds. The biggest on my boat so far this run has been 51 pounds. The green, blue and white in the 3oz. all worked well. ... The group of 4 fish were 44 42 32 23 pounds caught by my son and son-in-law, Ryan & Blake. The one I'm holding (white hat on) weighs 38 pounds."
