Bob Chambers (about the Gibbs Minnow)

Website Submission August 9, 2004

"I had been having no luck downrigging for lake trout at the start of the season. We had been out several times trying one spoon after the other and we had no success. One morning while docking the boat after another unsuccessful outing we met another boat load of fishermen and women (68 year old grandmother) we asked how their luck had been, the answer " great we limited out". I asked what they used and they showed me a silver jig and said, " that's was all we ever use". My buddy, Ron and I quickly when to the local tackle shop and bought several different jigs, two of them being Gibbs Minnow. Well to make a long fishing story short we started nailing lake trout like crazy. I ordered some more from a fishing shop in Alberta and we have continued to be successful ever since. My best luck has been using the Blue, landing myself a 12 plus Hen Laker but most of the colours work great. Thanks Gibbs for a great season of fishing."

Pete Pallot (Email, April 2004) (about the Green Highliner)

Vancouver Harbour, BC

"Since I bought my boat 2 years ago, my brother Geoff has come out from Edmonton to fish for a day or two at a time; most of the time, getting skunked or just hooking a shaker or two. He wasn't believing my stories of the nice salmon I'd caught just in the Vancouver Harbour.
This time was different. Geoff was at the helm and on the sounder, when he slowed down by the yellow can off Stanley Park. "Put 'er down, Petey!" he cried. I was sure he was delirious. "Nobody fishes here, Geoff", I replied scornfully. However, I humored him by gearing up with a green Highliner flasher and a paddy wagon Gypsy Spoon (my all time favorite lure).
Within 2 minutes, we got a hit....this 34 pound Red Spring. I hooked it and landed it, since Geoff wouldn't take the rod from me for fear of losing the fish. However, he did take the FISH from me....all the steaks but one, on the plane with him that afternoon, back to Edmonton."
