A Rainy Day of Fun and Learning at the Vedder River Family Salmon Fishing Day

On November 4th, 2023, the Vedder River came alive with laughter, excitement, and the pitter-patter of raindrops as families gathered for the much-anticipated Vedder River Family Salmon Fishing day. Hosted by the passionate group "Fishing is My Happy Place" and generously supported by industry leaders such as Gibbs Fishing, North West Rubber, Gene Johnston (Hook of Dreams), Shorelord Rod Holder, and Starbucks (Vedder & Keith Wilson location), along with esteemed Guide Services like Tim Manweiler of Wild BC Fishing Adventures and Steve's Fishing Adventures, the event was a testament to the power of community, education, and a shared love for fishing.

Despite the heavy rainfall that persisted throughout the day, the enthusiasm of the participants remained undampened. The event proved that a little rain couldn't wash away the determination of the families who showed up with smiles on their faces, ready to learn and create lasting memories.

No Fish, No Problem:
Surprisingly, the Vedder River Family Salmon Fishing day had a unique twist – not a single fish was caught. However, this minor setback did little to diminish the spirits of the attendees. As it turned out, you don't need a successful catch to have a fantastic time, especially when the focus is on teaching the next generation of anglers.

Learning the Ropes:
The event aimed to impart valuable skills to kids, introducing them to the art of salmon fishing in the Vedder River. Workshops were conducted on tying leaders and mastering the techniques of floating, drifting, casting and twitching for salmon. The young participants, along with their accompanying adults, embraced the opportunity to learn from seasoned professionals and industry experts.
