John Carinha, with over 40 years of fishing experience spanning from the San Juan's to Port Hardy and all along the West Coast, is the passionate founder of Angling 4 Autism, a program born out of a deeply personal journey and commitment to making a difference in the lives of individuals and families affected by autism. Inspired by his son Brandon, who was diagnosed with autism at the age of three, John sought to create opportunities for families to experience the joys of fishing in a supportive and inclusive environment.

The inception of Angling 4 Autism can be traced back to 2016 when Brandon was selected as the Canucks Autism Network Silver Wheaton Champion Child. A transformative fishing trip to the Westcoast Fishing Club as part of Fishing for Kids sparked John's vision to replicate the experience on a smaller scale, benefiting more families. Thus, Angling 4 Autism was born, driven by John's desire to share his love for fishing and provide respite for families in the autism community.
